The base mwtVision unit comes with a large number of input/output (I/O) points. It is therefore possible to begin with a certain number of sensors and controls on the mwtVision system. More sensors and controls can easily be added later as the water system expands or as additional features are added to the existing system. Should the number of I/O points ever be exceeded it is easy to add more.
 An mwtVision system is not restricted to operating just one water system, either. Wireless or ground-line links are often used to permit remote components of a water system or even completely independent water systems on a site to be run using a single mwtVision unit.
Finally, the mwtVision system is not restricted only to monitoring and controlling water treatment equipment. Existing clients check the temperature and humidity of buildings and even whether doors are opened or closed. Any device using one of the standard instrument signals can be interfaced directly while adaptations can be made for devices with other virtually any other connections.
